Zero Waste Scotland – Volunteer and Community Advocate Programme

Zero Waste Scotland’s grants from £15,000 upwards (typically to £100,000) are available to identify, train and support volunteers and community-based advocates to deliver consumer/householder engagement activities locally with the aim of increasing household recycling and preventing household food waste. Interventions should be targeted at communities where the greatest potential impacts can be made.

Only organisations that are already established and that have a proven track record in delivering community engagements can apply. This fund is open to registered community organisations, private sector and third sector organisations as well as local authorities in Scotland. The deadline is 1pm on 20 May 2013. Funding runs from 1 July 2013 to 31 March 2015.

N.B. Successful applicants will be paid quarterly in arrears.

Heritage Lottery Fund – Start-up grants

The Heritage Lottery Fund is giving grants ranging from £3,000 to £10,000 which are available to anyone thinking about creating a new organisation to look after or engage
people with heritage, or existing groups taking on new responsibilities for heritage.
If you have not yet formed your organisation and want to use a start-up grant to help you do that, or you do not yet have a bank account, you will need to ask an existing notfor-profit
organisation to make the application and accept the funding on your behalf.

Apply at any time. Applications are assessed within eight weeks.

Scottish Ethnic Communities – 100k Fund

Scottish Ethnic Communities is calling for groups in Scotland to apply for up to £10,000 to fund projects aimed at making minority ethnic communities healthier, safer and happier
places to live.

Project ideas should fall into one of these broad categories:
Youth work and young people
Social Enterprise
Community Engagement

Deadline is 31 July 2013.

Graham Burrough Charitable Trust

The Graham Burrough Charitable Trust is offering modest grants are available to support local mental health projects that help to lighten the burden for both sufferers and carers.
The website shows two grants awarded in Scotland – to Moray Anchor Projects and Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living.


Applications can only be accepted between 1 May and 31 August and you will be notified of the outcome after the trust’s November meeting before Christmas.

Foyle Foundation

The Foyle Foundation operates a Main Grants Scheme supporting charities whose core work covers arts and learning and a Small Grants Scheme covering small charities
in all fields. Grants awarded in Scotland in 2012 include:

Apply at any time. It will typically take four months to hear although capital projects seeking more than £50,000 are only considered twice per year in the Spring and Autumn so
could take six months or more.
