WIRED IN – Dundee IT/Employability
Drop-in Information Session
Volunteers Wanted
1st
October 2014 at 7pm
The
Friary, Tullideph Rd, DD2 2PN
People
who are vulnerable and/or are on benefits are required to have access to
computers and basic IT Skills in order to job search and perform various other
activities. For some this is very difficult, if not impossible to manage on their
own, but churches and the community want to help. A partnership is being developed
with the local authority to help this happen.
This event has been organised by Bethany Christian Trust, The Friary, Gilfillan Church and Faith in Community Dundee.
If you’d like
to be involved, or would like to find out more, please come along, and if
possible, volunteer.

space please contact Chelsea Lamont;

FiCDundee SEs Aspiring Event
On March 13, Faith in Community Dundee organized a small event on Social Enterprise in collaboration with Dundee Social Enterprise Network (SEN) at The Factory Skatepark. A total of 8 people, representing different churches and projects, participated in the event. Susan Smith from Dundee SEN introduced the concept of social enterprise - its definition, criteria and legal status and explored options to manage a business model for charity oriented entities. After the introduction session, Peter Friend from Helm Training shared his experience of running a social enterprise - its ethos and community engagement. Towards the end of the event, the floor was open for discussion where participants looked at how to get started and what kind of support - resources, knowledge and experience - is available to budding social enterprises, through Dundee SEN and other organizations.

by Faith in Community Dundee in collaboration with Faith in Community Scotland
(FiCS) and Dundee City Council at Kirkton Community Centre on January 23, 2013.
The trainers of the workshop were Shakeel Ali and Andy Whittet from the Transformation
Team, FiCS. The workshop was aimed at helping community-based faith groups and
other pertinent organizations understand their neighbourhood and community
better. The objectives were to help participants:

A total of 27 people
attended the event, with participants from Priority Areas like Lochee,
Menzeishill, Douglas, Mid Craigie, Coldside and Hilltown. The participants
mostly represented faith-groups, mainly churches, while there was a small
representation from non-faith groups and the Muslim community. A Community
Research Toolkit was also made available to all participants. The workshop was
free to attend and a light lunch was provided.
