Sport and Recreation Alliance 2013 Awards Now Open

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2013 Sport and Recreation Alliance Awards to recognise sporting organisations or professional clubs for their achievements. These annual awards from the Sport and Recreation Alliance are designed to highlight the breadth of work that is undertaken in the community sport and recreation sector. The awards are now in their 20th year and offer the opportunity for exceptional clubs to be recognised for the excellent work they do.

The awards, formerly the Sports Club of the Year Awards, changed their name to reflect the wide variety of members’ activities, and include new categories to recognise the breadth of work that is carried out by the sport and recreation sector as a whole. The Sport and Recreation Alliance is the umbrella organisation for the governing and representative bodies of sport and recreation in the UK and represents more than 320 members – organisations like The FA, the Rugby Football Union, UK Athletics, the Ramblers, British Rowing and the Royal Academy of Dance.

This year, awards and prize money will be presented for the categories of:
  • Community Sport and Recreation Overall Winner – £2,000
  • Volunteer Management – £1,000
  • School Links – £1,000
  • Professional Club Community Programme of the Year Award – £1,000
  • Green Thinking – £1,000
  • Innovative Project Award – £1,000
All types of sport and recreation organisations are eligible to enter; however, the entry must be endorsed by the club's national governing body, head office, or a county sports partnership. The deadline for nominations is 3 May 2013.

Further information is available on the Sport and Recreation Alliance website.
